Mabrie hosts Black Art Exhibit
With art themes ranging from classical to folk art, the students were able to identify are styles they have practiced in the classroom. The artists featured at Mabrie Memorial Mortuary have had their masterpieces displayed in collectors’ homes, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and they have received national and local acclaim.

Recently, the Top Ladies and Top Teens Prairie View Chapter along with the Houston, Humble, Missouri City, Spring Cypress and Suburban Bayou City Chapters worshipped at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church; for what was designated as United Negro College Fund Sunday.
Respect
While this simple word is something that everybody wants, not everybody is willing to give it. As members of the Black community, We MUST learn to respect and support our own people. It bothers me to see so many of US disrespecting US.

Oveta Lois Hunter was born on May 3, 1924 to the late Jerry and Alberta Randle in Houston, Texas. She was raised in the Third Ward community until the untimely death of her mother at an early age. After her mother’s death the family moved to the Acres Home community.
