The African American News and Issues Newspaper was founded by Roy and Sherly Malonson in 1996. The purpose of the newspaper is to address current and historical issues that are impacting the African American community.

The African American News and Issues newspaper is the largest African American newspaper in Texas, and one of the largest in the nation. The Malonsons are a pillar in the African American community and continue to be a voice for the community through the newspaper, and the work and advocacy they continue to do on a daily basis.
