AUSTIN, Texas — Today, Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announced the endorsement of a growing coalition of Texas energy organizations. Together, these organizations represent industries that support millions of Texas workers and families across Texas and power every sector of the state’s economy.
As Land Commissioner, Buckingham has cut red tape to unleash Texas energy production, support good-paying jobs, lower costs for families, and keep the Texas economic engine roaring. She has also generated more than $6 billion for Texas public schools through the Permanent School Fund without raising taxes.

“Texas oil and gas powers our nation, supports millions of Texas families, and keeps our economic engine roaring,” said Commissioner Buckingham. “Natural gas is the largest single source powering the Texas grid, which means when gas costs less, your electric bill and your grocery bill cost less too. I’ll always fight to keep energy affordable and reliable, and to support the good paying jobs the industry provides for Texas families,”
In addition to these leading industry organizations, Buckingham is endorsed by Commissioners Wayne Christian and Jim Wright, who, in their role as elected Railroad Commissioners, provide support and oversight over oil and gas production. She is also endorsed by T. Grant Johnson, Immediate Past Chairman of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association.
As Land Commissioner, Buckingham has worked to cut regulatory red tape and defend Texas energy producers from federal overreach. Her leadership supports the industry’s role as one of the state’s largest job creators, from roughnecks and pipeline crews to the small businesses that supply them. These jobs and increased production keep downward pressure on the costs Texas families feel every month.
