Fort Bend ISD’s Commitment to Long-Range Boundary Planning

Fort Bend ISD’s Commitment to Long-Range Boundary Planning
Fort Bend ISD (FBISD) is currently engaged in a Long-Range Boundary Planning process, and we want to affirm our commitment to the PAC (Professionalism, Accountability, and Communication) with the community. We recognize that thoughtful planning and transparent communication are essential.
When we launched this process in March 2025, we informed the community that this would be a multi-year initiative. Throughout every step, we are focused on being strategic as we work to balance enrollment across campuses. We will consider several factors, including facility conditions, enrollment trends and community input.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard your concerns about the boundary planning process, including the need for more information, opportunities to provide input, and timely updates. You also expressed your desire to learn more about the boundary scenarios being developed to balance enrollment, as well as the attendance boundary for the opening of Amy Coleman Middle School.
In response, we are adjusting the timeline to bring you more information in December.
These key milestones will include:
  • December 1:
    • A Special Called Workshop beginning at 5:30 p.m. to provide an update on the planning process and timeline during the Board Workshop.
    • We have also included an information item on the Agenda Review Meeting agenda beginning at 6:30 p.m., should more time be needed to provide information on the planning process and timeline.
  • December 4: Release of community feedback and a webinar to review input received regarding support needed during possible attendance boundary changes and school consolidations.
  • December 15:
    • A Special Called Board Workshop beginning at 5:00 p.m. to share information about enrollment, trends, and the planning process from the district’s demographer, boundary planner, and staff.
    • During the Regular Board Meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m., the draft boundary plans will be shared for Board review and feedback.
Looking ahead, community engagement will continue through early 2026, ahead of final recommendations which will be sent to the Board for consideration in March. These recommendations will include changes to elementary school attendance boundaries, possible school consolidations at the elementary level and the final attendance boundary for Amy Coleman Middle School.
No recommendations for high school boundaries will be made at this time.
We encourage all stakeholders to stay informed and participate in upcoming opportunities to provide input. You may find the boundary planning timeline on the Long-Range Boundary Planning webpage by visiting www.fortbendisd.com/attendanceboundaries.
Your partnership and patience are critically important as we navigate this complex process. Together, we will ensure that our decisions maintain the educational excellence that defines Fort Bend ISD.
