The Mary Allen Museum of African-American Art and History Board of Directors will be hosting its 2ndAnnual Mary Allen Founders Day Celebration on February 16 at Good Shepherd Fellowship Church located at 401 South 7thSt., Crockett 75835, starting at 1:00p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 212 has been in the community since 1947.  It originated in Third-Ward when it was predominately white, but over the years the culture changed into a much more diverse and well established financial Black community.

Johnnie Mae Brooks-Dale Thompson was born September 17, 1925, to Nettie Eddin and Leon Walter Brooks at 3401 Stonewall St., in 5thWard.  They had one 3-year old daughter, Lois Marie.  The family lived across the street from Gregg Street Presbyterian Church.

Gucci has issued an apology for selling a sweater resembling blackface and pulled it from stores. The black turtleneck-style sweater features an opening with a pair of bright red lips that can be stretched around the wearer’s mouth.

4-Year Old Girl From Texas Sadly Dies From the Flu

Garland, TX — The family of Ashanti Grinage, a 4-year old girl from Texas, is mourning her sudden death reportedly caused by a flu virus. Ashanti’s death is the first recorded pediatric flu-related death this season in Dallas County, Texas.
