HOUSTON – Touchdown Club of Houston’s 2018 UIL High School Awards finalists were announced during the awards dinner just recently in the Galleria.

HISD Athletic Director Andre’ Walker recognized nationally for Sports Safety

            The Touchdown Club of Houston has been handing out its Player of the Year honors to the top high school players in the Houston area since 1980.  Each year, both a senior offensive and defensive player from public schools in Greater Houston are given the award.

            Eisenhower HS’ Tyrique Matthews was among the 20 finalists recognized.  The linebacker is committed to play for Texas Tech University in fall 2019.

            Past winners include the likes of future NFL stars such as Thurman Thomas, Vince Young, and Andrew Luck.
