Voting-rights advocates are holding more than 350 events across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., on Saturday as part of a nationwide effort to mobilize communities ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The “Unite & Rise for Voting Rights” Day of Action marks the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and focuses on voter education, engagement and turnout.
The League of Women Voters organized the effort with state and local chapters and a broad coalition of civic organizations. Partners include Black Voters Matter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Common Cause, LULAC and the YWCA.
According to the League of Women Voters, major events are being held in Phoenix, Berkeley, Atlanta, Detroit and Philadelphia—cities selected for their connections to the nation’s voting-rights history and continuing struggles over ballot access. Activities include teach-ins, community outreach and discussions about redistricting and barriers faced by voters.
The campaign comes amid heightened concern among civil-rights groups following court rulings that weakened federal protections against racial discrimination in voting. Organizers say the day is intended to help communities prepare for November and turn concern about voting access into sustained civic participation.
