PRAIRIE VIEW – Recently, the Prairie View Chapter of Top Ladies and Top Teens stepped it up a notch for “Heart Month”, as the organization honored the First Ladies of area churches. By honoring both the First Ladies and Heart Month, the Top Ladies and Top Teens were able to fulfill three of its five thrust namely, the Status of Women, Community Partnerships and Senior Citizens through the Go Red event. For the event, the crowd was entertained by award-winning journalist and KPRC anchor, Mr. Keith Garvin, as emcee along with Lady Ruth Smith. In addition, the group had Dr. Oluwatosin Fatusin, a very phenomenal Pediatric Cardiologist and Assistant Professor at Baylor and Texas Children’s Hospital present a power point on heart health and the risk factors of heart disease. Greetings were done by both Lady Jacquelyn Pope, the Eleventh National President of Top Ladies and Mayor David Allen, Prairie View. Inspirational singing and praise dancing was provided by Ms. Roenia Thompson and Ms. Alexis Lang. Lady Gwendolyn Carter provided the occasion for the event. At the end, the First Lady honorees were given certificates in appreciation for all of their service in the community.
