Musk vs. Trump: Who’s Really Running America?

In one corner, Elon Musk — tech genius, richest man alive, owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X. In the other, Donald Trump — former president, cultural lightning rod, and the frontrunner to take the White House back in 2025. Their recent war of words is more than a billionaire feud. It’s a battle over power, control, and public opinion. And yes — Black America needs to pay attention.

Musk recently endorsed a post calling for Trump to be impeached and removed from office. Trump fired back like only Trump can — threatening to yank Tesla’s government contracts and accusing Musk of betrayal after years of benefiting from Trump-era policies. He even called Musk “crazy” and claimed he made Tesla successful. Musk, unfazed, doubled down on posts about protecting democracy and exposing government overreach.

But this isn’t just rich men bickering. It’s about two men fighting for the microphone of America — and possibly the steering wheel.

Musk wants to be the gatekeeper of speech. He owns the app where public opinion forms in real time. Trump wants to be the commander-in-chief — again. He controls a powerful voter base and dominates the Republican Party. Between the two of them, they influence how we talk, how we vote, and what we believe.

So where does that leave Black America?

Caught in the crossfire, again.

We’ve seen Trump-era policies impact everything from police reform to HBCU funding. We’ve watched Musk’s X go from a hub for Black voices to a shadowy space where our culture gets buried by bots and chaos. These battles trickle down into real-life consequences — in policy, in algorithms, and in whose voices are elevated.

Here’s the truth: They’re not fighting for us. They’re fighting around us. But if we’re smart, we’ll stop being spectators and start reclaiming our power. Because while Musk and Trump are battling for control of the system — we are the system.

We built the culture. We swing elections. We shape the trends.

It’s time to remind them: America runs through us.
