Suburban Sugar Land Women (SSLW) is a caring, volunteer, non-profit, 501C3, tax- exempt, incorporated, organization since 1989 whose lifetime commitment is to provide free and ongoing services and resources from infancy thru adult- hood. We are ecstatic to announce our free and ongoing services during December, 2025, January – February, 2026. These services and resources reflect SSLW’s mission to design, implement, maintain, and evaluate wellness, community, educational, civic, cultural programs, projects, scholarships, collaborations, and special requests that build confidence and expand knowledge and skills to succeed in school and life.
December – Wellness and Education
December is dedicated to wellness and education, featuring several meaningful observances and events. World AIDS Day is recognized on December 1, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was signed into law on December 2, 1972. The month also celebrates Spiritual Literacy Month, encouraging reflection and personal growth. Additionally, there will be a Recipients Holiday Check-In on Monday, December 15, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. For more details, contact [jeaniejrobins@gmail.com].
January – Community and Civic Engagement
January focuses on community and civic involvement. It is observed as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month and National Mentoring Month. The third Monday of the month honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a federal holiday. There will also be a Volunteer Deputy Registrar Certification event on Saturday, January 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 3730 Bamore Road, Rosenberg, TX 77471. This event is free and open to the public.
February – Education and community
February emphasizes education and community connection. The month includes National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, the Adopt-A-Spot Quarterly Clean-Up, and National Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17. A featured event, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” will take place on Saturday, February 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First Colony Library in Sugar Land, TX 77479. This program is free and open to the public.
