For over a decade, South Park — a historically Black neighborhood in Houston — has been without access to fresh food. That changed this week when Marcus and Denisha Cole opened Legacy Market, a fully Black-owned grocery store built to serve their own community. The opening is more than a business milestone; it’s a response to generations of redlining, neglect, and corporate disinvestment. Local residents say it’s the beginning of a new era of Black economic empowerment.
