Transforming Urban Youth

Aldine School District

Anderson Academy, an Aldine ISD elementary campus in the Acres Home community, was recognized by the National Center for Urban School Transformation as a 2015 National Excellence in Urban Education bronze award recipient.  Anderson Academy is one of 14 schools in the nation selected for this award level.  Another Aldine ISD school, Stephens Elementary, has been selected to receive gold or silver status, but the announcement will not be made until the 2015 National Excellence in Urban Education Symposium in Dallas, Texas on May 21st.  Grant writers Nicole Scott and Dana Slack will be joining Anderson’s Principal, Julie Johnson, at the symposium to collaborate with other educators and administrators on best educational practices and achievement in urban schools.
