Older African Americans Experience Discrimination From Healthcare Providers

By Justin Mabrie,

HOUSTON- Recently, Mabrie Memorial Mortuary held a beautiful occasion of tribute and remembrance for the families they serviced during the year, 2018. The intent of the program was to prepare families for the emotions they may experience during the upcoming holiday season. A fruitful discussion of grief and legacy was led by Rev. Dr. Patricia Williams (of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church), followed by the disbursements of personalized keepsakes. The families in attendance shared stories and advice with each other, as well as benefited from the guided discussion. As interactive aftercare and bereavement programs will become the norm ment programs will become the norm for Mabrie Memorial Mortuary, future events will be offered to the surrounding community. The event was catered by Creuzo Cuisine with musical selections by Quinnzhan Barnes.

Family attendees sharing advice and words of comfort.
