Court Allows Environmental Racism Lawsuit in Louisiana to Proceed

A federal appellate court has ruled that a civil rights lawsuit alleging environmental racism in Louisiana’s St. James Parish may proceed. The suit accuses the parish of discriminatory land-use practices by concentrating polluting petrochemical facilities in predominantly Black neighborhoods.
