Leadership is the ability to guide, inspire, and positively influence others. A godly leader leads by example, not by demagoguery or force, because example remains the best teacher. Godly leaders help others follow the right path, grow spiritually, and succeed. They listen carefully, respect others’ ideas, make fair decisions, accept responsibility for their actions, and morally stand firm in difficult times. Leadership is not about control, status, or a “big I, little you” attitude. Godly leadership is about serving people’s needs and helping them become better, not bitter. In doing so, godly leaders build trust, teamwork, and positive cooperation.
To become a godly leader, one must have a God-conscious spirit. This helps explain why many self-centered, ungodly individuals are drawn into politics. My pastoral friend, Raymond L. Farley, once reminded me that politics can become like a pile of human waste, because it is often driven by EGO— Edging God Out. Effective leaders have intellectual integrity and, above all, the moral capacity to align/integrate flesh with Spirit and words with actions/deeds. Vision for the future is equally important, because our children are our future. More importantly, where there is no vision, people perish, because: “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14: 34). Hence, will someone please tell President Trump and his MAGA-Cult GOP Allies that: “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16: 18). Of course, there is a way that seems right to individuals, but the end thereof is destruction and death.
Listening is a godly quality. God calls us to listen to Him and to others, then respond with righteous action. Scripture reminds
us, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts” (Proverbs 21:2). Therefore, speaking against evil requires moral and intellectual courage. In America, both courage and silence carry a moral cost: those who speak against evil pay one price, and those who remain silent pay another.
