Texas Southern University will host its annual Black History Month Convocation, celebrating this year’s theme, “From Then, to Now, to Next.” As the nation marks 100 years of Black history observance, Texas Southern is celebrating its 99th year on the Road to 100.
The convocation will reflect on the University’s enduring legacy, recognize the impact Texas Southern is making today, and look ahead to the future being shaped by the next generation of Tigers.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Mrs. Denise Malloy-Deadrick, a Texas Southern alumna and Senior Vice President and Chief Belonging Officer for Walmart. The convocation will also include special performances by the world-renowned and defending international champion Texas Southern Debate Team, the Texas Southern Choir, and the Texas Southern Wind Ensemble.
