Texas Southern University Aviation Science Management, in partnership with the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. of Houston (D9), will host the inaugural D9 Greek Youth Aviation Fly-In this Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Houston Spaceport. The event will give 20 Houston-area students, 10 to 16 years old, a firsthand introduction to aviation through a structured ground experience and free discovery flights aboard a Cirrus SR20 with certified flight instructors.
The initiative is designed to expose young people — many of whom have never had access to aviation programming — to careers in flight, aerospace, and STEM, while building confidence and igniting interest in a historically underrepresented industry.
Event highlights include:
- Free discovery flights aboard a Cirrus SR20 alongside a Certified Flight Instructor
- Aircraft preflight inspection and safety procedure demonstrations
- Overview of airport and flight operations
- Live tower communications
-
