The Nigerian-American Multicultural Council (NAMC) is proud to announce its 12th Annual Fundraising Gala and Awards, taking place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Houston Marriott West Loop. This year’s theme, “From Home to Houston: Our Stories, Our Legacy,” reflects the shared journeys, cultural heritage, and collective impact of Nigerian-Americans and the broader multicultural community in Houston. The evening will bring together community leaders, professionals, and changemakers for a celebration of culture, connection, and achievement.
The gala will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by a formal dinner, live entertainment, and the presentation of awards
recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to their industries and communities. Guests will also witness
the announcement of the 2026 NAMC Scholarship Program recipients, supporting students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
Since its founding, NAMC has remained committed to advancing cultural awareness, professional development, education,
and community engagement. Proceeds from the gala directly support NAMC’s year-round initiatives, including programs such
as Houston AfriFEST, career development workshops, mentorship programs, and community outreach efforts that empower
individuals and strengthen connections across generations.
“With a renewed purpose to be a home for Nigerian-Americans of all generations, and a new mission and vision, this year is
the perfect year to continue creating that home and reflecting on the stories that we all have about when and why we left our
home of Nigeria and made Houston home,” said Abby Kotun-Thomas, President of NAMC. “This year’s theme From Home
to Houston: Our Stories, Our Legacy is a unique opportunity to pause and reflect on our collective journey and the reason
NAMC was created and still exists fifteen years later.”
The 2026 honorees include:
- Adegbite Falade, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of Aradel Holdings, recipient of the
Distinguished Leadership in Energy & Business Award - Atim Amana, attorney and community leader, recipient of the NAMC Officer of the Year Award
- Edward Disi, technology consultant and community advocate, recipient of the NAMC Volunteer of the Year

Additional honorees will be announced. The evening will feature dynamic hosting, music, and cultural
