NAACP Houston, TX Youth Council December 2025 General Membership Meeting & Health Committee Advocacy Program

We invite your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, cousin, or godchild (ages 0–25) to the December General Membership Meeting will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. CST at the NAACP Houston Branch Office (2002 Wheeler Ave, Houston, TX 77004).

The meeting is open to elementary, middle school, high school, and junior college students. No one is too young to participate in these opportunities to learn, lead, and engage.

Students must arrive between 2:40 P.M. – 2:50 P.M. and register by 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, using the registration form button below. Late registration will limit participation in certain activities.

Following the business portion of the meetingthe Health Committee will present the “Healthy Plates; Brighter Futures” Advocacy Program.

The purpose of this advocacy program is for students to understand how students of color are disproportionately affected by cuts to public school health and nutrition programs through SNAP under the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). After developing this understanding, students will evaluate the root causes of these disparities, identify which components of OBBBA impact school meal access, and design advocacy strategies—to promote equitable nutrition policies and protect children’s right to healthy meals.

Warm Regards,
