Harris County Commissioners have voted to appoint Abbie Kamin as Harris County Attorney in a narrow 3–2 decision, positioning her to serve ahead of the November election.
Kamin will become the first woman to serve in this role, taking on responsibility for representing Harris County in civil legal matters and advising county leadership.
The appointment comes at a critical time, as Harris County and the City of Houston are navigating complex legal and policy questions—including the ongoing debate around law enforcement’s relationship with ICE and how local policies intersect with state and federal law.
Now, hear directly from her.
