HOUSTON, TX — The Office of the City Controller will host its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on September 17 at 10:30 AM in the Legacy Room at Houston City Hall.
The event will honor the rich history, cultural contributions, and lasting impact of Houston’s Hispanic community, while recognizing local leaders whose work continues to shape the city’s future.
Houston is home to a vibrant and growing Hispanic population that plays a vital role across business, culture, education, and public service.
“This celebration is about honoring the people and stories that help define Houston,” said City Controller Chris Hollins. “Our Hispanic and Latino communities are an essential part of what makes this city strong, dynamic, and deeply rooted in resilience. It’s important that we take the time to recognize those contributions as we continue building a city that reflects and uplifts every community within it.”
The program will be emceed by local creator Spoiled Latina and will honor:
- Community Hero, Football for the Future, Carlos Espina, Football for the Future
- Community Champions, Divine Art Coalition; Diego Noria, Raquel Natalicchio
- Community Trailblazer, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia
- Community Advocate, FIEL, Cesar Espinosa
The program will also include a moment of remembrance honoring the life of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.
