Discovery Green is honoring Hispanic heritage and Mexican culture this fall with a lineup of free programming celebrating art, tradition, film and music. Beginning September 15, visitors can explore Fantastic Animals from México: Alebrijes and Nahuales, an outdoor exhibition featuring eight towering 20-foot sculptures inspired by Mexican magical realism and Mesoamerican folklore. On September 19, families can get hands-on with Mexican folk art during the Fantastic Animals: Artist Workshop – Papier-Mâché Masks from 2–4 p.m., followed by an outdoor screening of Selena during Screen on the Green from 7–9 p.m. The celebrations continue September 26 with a second Fantastic Animals workshop focused on creating small alebrijes from 5–7 p.m., followed by México en el Corazón from 7–10 p.m., featuring more than 70 performers showcasing traditional Mexican dance, ballet folklórico, regional costumes and indigenous traditions. The Fantastic Animals installation will remain on view through October 18, giving Houstonians plenty of opportunities to experience the colorful celebration of Mexican art and culture throughout Hispanic Heritage Month.

Big flavors, bright plates and plenty of personality are on the menu at Pochitos Mariscos y Más this Hispanic Heritage Month. Bringing together acclaimed Mexican chef and former Top Chef México personality Aquiles Chávez and restaurateur Juan Antonio Hernandez, the South Houston concept puts a playful, modern spin on Mexican coastal cuisine. Think citrusy ceviches, spicy aguachiles, extravagant seafood towers, sizzling grilled dishes, unexpected sushi rolls and colorful desserts all served in a lively setting designed for gathering, sharing and celebrating!

From September through October, POST Houston is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a vibrant lineup of music, film, food and cultural experiences. The festivities kick off with Mariachi Loco de Juan Medina on September 18 and continue with live Latin music on the lawn, including Latin Soul Band, Amado Garcia and the Harris County Band, and Shekere Latin Band. Highlights also include the HPMA First Annual Festival de la Herencia Hispana on September 20, featuring performances from Houston Latin musicians; a Hispanic Heritage Month brunch at El Tiempo Cantina with a Ballet Folklórico performance; a Queen of Tejano Tribute Band rooftop concert; a screening of Selena on the lawn; and the family-friendly Poder Hispano Festival on October 3, featuring local Latino-owned businesses, cultural arts activities, folkloric performances, music and food from across Latin America. The celebration continues into October with a Soda Stereo tribute concert, Alicia Villarreal’s Bendita Locura Tour 2026 and more.
