Michigan Reports First U.S. Deaths in Record Cyclosporiasis Outbreak

Michigan has reported the first two known U.S. deaths connected to the nation’s largest recorded cyclosporiasis outbreak, according to state health officials. Federal investigators have linked part of the outbreak to recalled iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants in nine states, while authorities continue searching for other possible sources. More than 11,000 cases have been reported in Michigan, and symptoms can include severe diarrhea, nausea and dehydration.
