Mrs. Frances Prince was born on December 16, 1919, in Pelican, Louisiana, to the late Joe and Bettie Chatmon. She peacefully entered eternal rest on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Frances accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful servant of the Lord throughout her 105 blessed years. She was a devoted member of the Mission and Nursing Home Ministry and a faithful member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, where she joyfully participated in worship and gospel musicals. She also sang in a three-generation family singing group, a ministry of love and faith that united her family and blessed countless hearts.
Frances was an esteemed member of the Court of Calanthe, where she achieved the highest level of distinction through many years of service and leadership. She was also a proud entrepreneur who founded Prince & Sons Bus Service, providing safe
and reliable transportation for students across North Houston. Her dedication to the community reflected her strong work ethic and compassion for others. In honor of her beloved mother, Frances helped organize the Bettie Momo Washington Chatmon Scholarship Fund, continuing her family’s legacy of faith, education, and service.
Frances was united in marriage to her devoted husband, Eamest Prince Jr., who preceded her in death. Together they built a strong, faith-filled family whose love and values continue to inspire generations. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Donald (Gwen), Alice Faye (Duria +), Joe (LaWyanda), Russell, Michael (Sandra +), and Lloyd. She was preceded in death by her beloved sons: Woody, Leon, Earnest III, Floyd, and Larry.
She also leaves to cherish her memory one brother-in-law, George Prince Sr., and beloved sisters-in-law Hattie Chatmon, Earlie Mae Hunter, and Shirley Prince. Frances was blessed to witness five generations of grandchildren, along with family,
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her favorite hymn, “Down Through the Years, The Lord’s Been Good to Me,” reflected her lifelong testimony of gratitude and God’s faithfulness. Frances met no stranger. Her grace, humor, and love for God and family will forever shine on the lives she touched. She truly lived the words of her favorite scripture: “Create in me a clean heart, O Lord.” – Psalm 51:10
