It is clear now that the 45thpresident of the United States is knowingly or unwittingly a tool of the Russian government. But for many years before the dumpster fire in the White House came into office, the Kremlin has been wielding a secret weapon against the “land of the free.”
Without the power to communicate, I truly believe African-Americans would be in a situation worse than they are. African-American journalists have a very important role in providing essential information to people who are not considered to be credible.
As an African-American man “raised” in America, I have personally witnessed disrespect, unfairness, racism and other un-American characterization displayed frequently against Black people in general and Black males specifically.
In the book Becoming by Michelle Obama, she talks about a time when she was talking with some girls her age. One of the girls asked, “How come you talk like a White girl?” When I read this, it immediately resonated with me. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told, “You sound like a White girl.”
I could not agree with him more, which is why it never ceases to amaze me how so many of our Black folks got all of these opinions about any and everything. But what bothers me the most about these opinionated folk is, many of them have the wrong opinions about the wrong things.
It’s almost Christmas time. What are your plans? Are you excited? I realize as time goes on that Christmas never gets old but, I am getting older. Old enough to know the truth about old St. Nick but, I still share in the excitement of the holiday’s nonetheless.
Some people may remember Fannie Lou Hamer from back in the day. Her response from being asked why she supported equal rights for Blacks after the Democratic Party disallowed seating for Black delegates from Mississippi at the party’s National Convention in 1964.
There’s an old saying that goes like this “Power concedes nothing without a struggle”. Our current problems confronting our American Democracy are serious deadly issues that can and must be controlled or stopped.
I have been reading the book Becoming by former first lady Michelle Obama. Almost halfway through, the book has been compelling, interesting, informative, reflective, and just pure excellence. Michelle Obama is thorough, honest, and amazing in the story she has to tell. It is her story, through her own voice.
Mack was gunned down outside the school on Nov. 13, in what police described as one of the latest killings in an ongoing gang war. But hold up! What about black schools? The same ones, that have been dealing with gang violence, since before the mayor started his term.
