KINGS BAY, Ga. – Petty Officer 3rd Class Raymund Nelson, a native of Houston, Texas, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to USS Tennessee at Naval Submarine Base (NSB) Kings Bay. As a submariner, Nelson is part of a small percentage of Navy personnel continuing a 125-year tradition of service under the sea to help ensure Americans’ safety.
Nelson graduated from West Side High School in 2023.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Houston.
“I learned that it’s important to have confidence in what you do,” Nelson said.
Nelson joined the Navy two years ago. Today, Nelson serves as a missile technician.
