Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson announced Friday that colleges and universities within the 30th Congressional District will receive more than $10 Million in emergency grants to help cover significant financial loses. At least half of the funding to the institutions is required to be distributed to students in the form of emergency cash grants to help students pay for housing, food, and other necessities.

It is an honor granted to educators who have dedicated years of service to promoting educational theater. Lone Star College announced it will waive fees for courses which are moving online due to the coronavirus and delay a planned tuition increase. The waived fee also applies to the 8-week term, any remaining Next Start classes, May Mini-Mester, Summer I and Summer II distance learning classes.

Malon, 17, is this year’s valedictorian, with a 4.2 GPA despite facing many family setbacks in her life. The teen suffered the passing of her father, Michael Garner, on Oct. 6, 2018, and her grandfather, Henry Garner, in February 2020. Her mother, Paulette, is incarcerated.
