Through Erica’s Eyes The Cream of the Crop of this Year’s Honorees! Texas Southern Alumni Association Presents “Leaders & Legends”

By Erica C. Davis

HOUSTON – If something or someone is in the cream of the crop, they are known to be among the best of a class of things or people. Recently, the Texas Southern Alumni National Association held its Excellence in Education Awards Banquet honoring the alumni and leaders in the community.
Welcoming words of appreciation from Congressman Al Green and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee were powerful and deserving for the honorees. Texas Southern University National Alumni Association (TSUNAA) can trace its inception back as early as the 1940’s. However, in 1999 TSUNAA was incorporated in the State of Texas. Since then TSUNAA has grown in membership, local chapters, affinity chapters, and institutional chapters across the United States. “Each year, as we welcome new students to Texas Southern University we are reminded of the legacy left behind by alumni. For many of us, our days at TSU were some of the best experiences of our lives. And now, our involvement as alumni is critical to the success of the University” said Connie L. Cochran, ‘90 Director of Alumni Relations.
The honorees were well deserving of such an exquisite event
