Losing a family member can be one of the most traumatizing times in a person’s life. When that occurs, Anthony Norman is dedicated to helping individuals find unique and special ways to say farewell. Together Norman, with his partners Terry (T.R.) Wynn and Franki Mckinney, run Norman and Wynn’s Loving Memories Mortuary located at 8011 West Montgomery Road in Houston. “I saw a need in the community and wanted to do what I could to help fill that void,” Norman said. “My goal is to listen to them at this time, be fair and provide the best quality service at a very difficult time.” The funeral home provides services that includes pre-need planning, affordable cremations and high quality caskets with special sprays with an emphasis on providing full and complete customer service.
“I want people to feel like they have been treated well and fairly with everything we do,” he said. “All people do not have insurance, but despite that people deserve to have a decent home going.” Norman has been in Houston for 25 years and received his undergraduate degree in political science from Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Ga. He went on to earn his Masters Degree from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Oh. For the past 22 years, he has worked as a Harris County Community Supervision Officer and taught at Texas Southern University for the past 15 years and Houston Community College for 12 years. He also has been a member of Phi Beta Sigma Inc. since 1985.
Terry Wynn has been in the funeral business for 15 years and Norman credits him for mentoring him in the business. “He is a man who is truly dedicated to service, meeting needs and understands what it means to provide excellent family care with the kind of respect and dignity you expect and can trust,” Norman said about Wynn. Wynn graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1967 and owned a funeral business. Another one of the goals is giving back to the community. “My goal is to grow in the community and employ people from our community,” he said. “I also want to be involved in helping youth prepare for their futures and young men to grow up and be responsible.”
Loving Memories Mortuary also honors all insurance, credit cards and payment plans are available to help meet a customers need. Norman is a father of an eight-year old and said he understands the needs of youth and uses his experiences to reach out and help youth. Other community goals include sponsoring children’s activities and sporting events. Norman said he has expansion dreams for his business and will work hard in the community to demonstrate his professional caring approach doing business with the public. He also hopes to be able to hire more people in the future.
“Our goal is to treat people right,” he said. “We plan to be here for a very long time.”
