Free School Meals Available to Students for 2nd Consecutive Year

cover7DALLAS – During the 2014-2015 school year, Dallas Independent School District will again provide school meals at no charge to all 160,000 students in the district.

Dallas ISD is one of the largest school district in Texas to provide this opportunity to students, available with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). After a successful initial year offering free meals to all students, TDA allowed Dallas ISD to transition to its Community Eligibility Provision. The new status allows the district to continue providing meals to its students at no charge.

In addition, Dallas ISD families will no longer be required to complete the free or reduced lunch application to receive free meals.
