DALLAS–Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, the Dallas Food Planning Association , and the Texas Hunger Initiative have formed a steering committee to tackle local hunger issues. The steering committee consists of elected officials, government agencies, corporations, non-profit organizations, faith-based community leaders, and local residents. “Nearly half a million Dallas County residents are considered food insecure because they don’t have regular access to healthy nutritious meals. It is my top priority to address local hunger issues, and to help combat food insecurities in Dallas. The steering committee will bring community stakeholders from all sectors to the table by addressing this critical issue in Dallas through innovative solutions,” stated Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.
