HOUSTON- Recently, several senior citizens have received letters from the Tax Assessor’s office saying they’d been removed from the voter roll because they are listed as deceased. They also want to alert other senior citizens to be on the lookout for letters or other documents eliminating their right to vote. The Baptist Ministers’ Association wants the community to be aware of these attempts to suppress voter participation among seniors especially in the African-American community. They are also encouraging the entire community to be vigilant about the opportunities as well as challenges this election season. Lead by Rev. Max Miller, Pastor of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, the Association held a press conference to address voting concerns.
