HOUSTON – It’s “La-La” time…That means Zydeco, one of the most contagious styles of music on the planet – and we can’t get enough. Zydeco lovers can satisfy their thirst for the Cajun dance steps at the 8th Annual Creole Heritage Zydeco & Crawfish Festival in Baytown, Texas on April 13th and 14th at San Jacinto Mall, located I-10 East at Garth Road. The gates open, with discounted admission tickets, April 13th at 5 p.m. This will be followed by DJ Richie Rich, and live two-steppin’ with Keith Frank, Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band, Leon Chavis & the Zydeco Flames and Ruben Moreno & his Creole Soul Band. On Saturday, start stompin’ with DJ Jammin’ J in the mix with a 10 a.m. Happy Hour and discounted tickets and beverages.
At 11 a.m. bring it on as Mona Zydeco Queen Wilson will lead the Zydeco Dance Lessons. Live two-steppin’ will follow. There will be something for everyone at this year’s Zydeco and Crawfish Festival. Down-home cooking comes alive with some of your favorites; turkey legs, boudain, etoufee’s, meats, sauces, popcorn balls, homemade mouth-watering pecan candy and treats for the kids and those who are still kids at heart. Proceeds benefit the Broussard Endowment Fund and helps provide scholarships and funds a variety of school projects in the local communities.
