AUSTIN – The Austin Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Black History Bowl, slated for Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church located at 1800 East 11th Street in the Sneed Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
A total of 7 plus teams are registered to participate in a game show format answering questions related to Black History and the contributions of African-Americans in the United States, the State of Texas and in East Austin. The teams consist of students from middle schools, junior high school, high school, and community and church youth groups.
Winning teams will receive cash prizes for their knowledge of African American history through their response to the questions from the commentators. The Bowl is reminiscent of the College Bowl Game Show.
NCNW looks forward to the Austin community’s support and supporting each team with its presence. The Black History Bowl is an excellent way to teach young people about African-American history on a local, state, and national level.
